PAWS ABOARD: TRAVEL APP

The Challenge:

Build a travel app to book flights for passengers with pets.

It’s almost unforgiving that today there is no product in the market to facilitate travel arrangements for both pets and their owners. Here’s my take on what could be.

With my puppy Rory at my side and armed with $5 Starbucks gift cards, I set out to conduct guerilla style interviews at our local doggy park in Queens.

After talking to a few folks, all with different stories of traveling with their pet, it was easy to identify what common pain points they shared. Notably, frustration was at the top of the list.

After continuing more interviews I had enough data to define my persona and create journey maps that would shape my product: Paws Aboard.

Traveling with a pet can be challenging and confusing, I wanted the UI for Paws Aboard to visually offer a sense of ease and create screens with minimal field entries for the user to reach their end journey quickly.

Because each airline has their own rules for pet travel, it was important that the product worked on a basis of elimination and search results would only populate options that the user’s specified pet is eligible for.

The final product! An app that users can rely on to safely and efficiently book a flight for the entire family.
